If you write or review documentation, you’ve likely felt the friction of setting up linters and style guides with Vale. I built The Vale App to remove all of that. It lets you lint Markdown, AsciiDoc, MDX, and HTML against trusted rule sets (Microsoft, Google, Red Hat, GitLab, Elastic, and more) instantly. No installs, no config, and complete privacy.

Why I built it
Docs linters such as Vale are powerful, but the setup can scare off contributors and slow teams down. I wanted a tool that any writer could open in seconds and get value from immediately. The Vale App is my way of making high‑quality docs more accessible, so style consistency isn’t a bottleneck and reviewers can focus on content instead of nits.
A bit about me: I’m a documentation engineer and writer who enjoys turning friction into clean, fast workflows. I build tools, automate tasks, and help teams ship better docs at scale. If you want help operationalizing docs quality or anything related to documentation, let’s talk.
What it does
- Zero setup: Open the app, select the rule packages, and start linting. No installation, tools, or configuration required.
- Works entirely in your browser: nothing you write leaves your machine.
- Pro‑grade rules: Use the same style guides used by top docs teams.
- Bring your files: Paste, write, or upload Markdown, MDX, AsciiDoc.
Privacy and speed, by design
- 100% client‑side: Your content never leaves your browser.
- Fast by default: Vale runs via WebAssembly with smart caching for repeat lints.
- Designed for teams: Lower the barrier for contributors while maintaining high standards.
What’s next
I’m actively collecting feedback to refine the experience, custom rules, and multi‑file docs workflows. If you have a use case or feature request, I’d love to hear it.
